Shea Moisture Mongongo & Hemp Seed High Porosity Moisture Seal Styling Gel

Hola Chica’s, hope all is well!

I want start by screaming.. SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER! WOOT WOOT!!! Although spring can sometimes be a pain on the hair. I think..HOPE I found a product that will keep my hair styles in tact. My latest hair product discovery is by Shea Moisture. I know, I know, I vow never to trying another thing from Shea Moisture, because in the past I’ve had some pretty bad luck with them. But some things change. My hair has changed. I’m not sure if its due to age or pregnancy, but my hair has gotten thicker, and doesn’t hold a style for more then a 3 hours, sometimes less. The Bantu Knots have been my saving grace.

In my last post I styled with a gel product from Aveda:   It’s a good product, just a bit expensive for me. I looked into making my own gel, but right now with a 6 week old baby.. it ain’t likely. So coming across the Shea Moisture gel was awesome. I bought this product in a Walgreens it runs between $8-10.

Here’s what you need to know.

What’s in it?

Water, MaltodextrinNP Copolymer, Glycerin (Vegetable), Dehydroxanthan Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter**, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata Seed Extract, Tocopherol, Methylcellulose, Citric Acid, Vinegar, Pullulan, Panthenol, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend), Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol.

Defines perfect curls and coils while sealing cuticles to block humidity and frizz. Delivers soft hold and healthy shine. Enriched with ultra-hydrating Mongongo and Hemp Seed Oils together with certified organic Shea Butter and fortifying Baobab Protein to strengthen damaged or highly porous hair. Irish Moss helps condition hair and enhance shine.

How to use it?

Squeeze a small amount into hands, and apply to damp hair, paying special attention to ends. Air dry or blow dry as usual.

I use this product on damp hair. Although you may not have to depending on the style. For better results I prefer damping my hair with Rosewater, adding a little bit of vitamin e oil on my hair, then applying the gel.

I actually prefer this gel over Aveda’s. Not only does the Mongongo & Hemp gel hold my style, my hair is left soft, shiny and so bouncy. The scent is very light, but has a soft sweet flower like smell. Its not overpowering. This might be my go-to product. I will keep you all updated.
