Mini Twist Set With Homemade Flaxseed Hair Gel

I found the recipe for the hair gel on youtube.com/naptural85. Love her video’s and her hair. She’s just a overall gorgeous woman. If you find my instructions a little too wordy. I suggest checking out her video. She has amazing informal techniques about hair, and food recipes on her channel. 🙂 Enjoy

Ingredients:

•3/4 cup Whole Flax Seeds
•5 cups Water
•1 tablespoon Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil
•6-8 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Supplies:

•2 quart sauce pan
•Fine Mesh Large Strainer
•Large Glass Bowl
•Cloth Dinner Napkin
•10-12 Empty Spice Jars or Small Containers

Makes about 3 cups of natural hair gel

Instructions:

1. In a 2 quart sauce pan, bring water to a boil on high heat.

2. Stir in whole flax seeds and reduce heat to medium-high.

3. Simmer for about 6-10 minutes, stirring constantly until frothy for a few minutes. You don’t want the froth to turn dark yellow. This means it’s burning. Froth should be white.

4. Take pot off stove to cool for 5-10 minutes.

5. Lay a dinner napkin over a large stainless steel mesh strainer that is fitted over a large bowl or pot.

6. Scoop out a cup of the boiled flaxseed mixture and pour into the cloth. Let cool if too hot to handle.

7. Grab the sides of the cloth and twist to prepare to squeeze the gel out into a separate bowl large enough to hold 4 cups of liquid.

8. Discard seeds on plate and repeat steps 6-7. Continue until all of the boiled flaxseeds have been strained. Makes about 3 cups of gel.

This is the best hair gel ever! It’s natural, eco, feels great, nourishes, and smells great! It’s packed full Omega-3s for a healthy shine and bounce. Once you go natural, you won’t to go back. It’s super cheap on your wallet, too.

9. Add a mild fragrance, mixing 6-8 drops of lavender essential oil to a tablespoon of almond or jojoba oil. Mix well.

10. Pour the gel into small containers like clean spice jars which give enough for 1-2 applications in each container.

11. Now, your hair gel is ready to use.

12. Store the rest of the small container in the freezer. They keep for months. Simply pull one out and let it thaw out overnight to use in the morning. Refrigerate unused portion and finish using bottle within a week.

Peace, my lovely ladies. ❤
